The Memorial Hall has been central to the lives of the village since it was built in 1922 in memory of all from the village who had fought in World War I. It is one of the few memorial halls in the country that has its roll of honour proudly displayed at the head of the hall, as a reminder to us all of its historic origins.
A committee manages the hall on the behalf of the village; we run a number of fundraising events each year to maintain the upkeep of hall. It is also available for private hire. It is used by many local groups on a monthly basis including the Stone-cum-Ebony WI and Stone Bingo.
Bingo attracts a large number of people from all around the area and is held on the first Wednesday of every month. Bowls are played on Friday evenings. There is a Mindfulness and Yoga group most weeks run by Lizzie Winwood – on Mondays, a general yoga class, and other sessions as announced. For further information please visit www.altaihealing.com.
The Hall is also used for events such as dance, quiz nights, race nights, celebration meals and jumble sales.
Kent Fire and Rescue have generously donated a Defibrillator and Cabinet to the village, for use in emergencies. This has been installed on the outside of the Memorial Hall, next to the front entrance.
For instructions on how to use the defibrillator, see this short video:
